El seminario de Bioética pertenece al área práctica de la Licenciatura en Filosofía e Historia de las Ideas de la UACM. Al ser la bioética una disciplina de reciente creación, posterior a la década de 1970, es un campo fértil de estudio. Este seminario está pensado para abordar las problemáticas contemporáneas que circunscriben la ontología del ser-vida, al tiempo de proponer epistemologías que se distancien de una mirada clásica de abordar no solo la filosofía, sino también los dilemas morales que traen consigo los avances científicos, las pandemias, el cambio climático, el diseño genético y un sinfín más de acontecimientos.

Qué aprenderás:

Distinguir las categorías de análisis de la bioética: ser-vida, biopoder, biotecnología, autoinmunidad.
Reflexionar sobre la importancia de los límites de la filosofía en la práctica de una ética dirigida a estudiar paradigmas del siglo XXI.
Desarrollar un pensamiento filosófico que proponga epistemologías a partir de identificar problemáticas morales.
Identificar metodologías de investigación filosófica para una ontología del ser-vida.

A partir de la etimología bios~vida, se analiza, de manera transdisciplinar, aquello que hace posible la vida en la Tierra. Esta perspectiva consiste en identificar y cuestionar las narrativas económicas (capitalismo), ideológicas (Ilustración) y antropológicas (Antropoceno) prevalecientes en una moral que excluye no solo a distintas poblaciones vulnerables, sino también a los otros seres vivos no-humanos (plantas, bosques, ríos, desiertos, animales) que hacen posible la vida.

Editing Nature To Fix Our Failures
Gene editing may enable us to prevent a species from ever becoming extinct in the first place. But should we?

It is too late to put the genetic genie back in the bottle. The technology to alter organisms is not only widely available — you can buy a frog genome editing kit for the cost of a nice terrarium — its power is now amplified by AI. ChatGPT will, with the right prompts, suggest edits to render a virus more virulent. A quick Google search can take you to biotech companies willing to sell the basic components. Using CRISPR-Cas9 to manipulate heritable traits in humans is still frowned upon. But nothing really governs its application in other organisms other than one’s personal ethics or those of the lab sponsoring the science.
